Three excursion destinations within an hour from Reutlingen
Reutlingen is a perfect starting point to explore the Swabian Alb. As soon as you leave the city behind, castles, waterfalls, and wide vistas await. Three excursion destinations that you can reach in less than an hour – and that show how diverse the region around Reutlingen is.
The Fairy Tale Castle of the Swabians
From Reutlingen, it's just a 30-minute drive to Castle Lichtenstein. Perched high above the Echaz valley, it looks like something out of a picture book – with towers, bay windows, and a steep rocky cliff. Whether you simply look out from the bridge or take a guided tour, the castle offers history you can touch and a view you won't forget anytime soon.
Nature cinema to marvel at
Just about 25 minutes from Reutlingen, the Brühlbach rushes down 37 meters: the Uracher Waterfalls. A highlight for all who love nature. The path through the valley is already an experience – and upon reaching the waterfall, you are rewarded with a refreshing breeze. A perfect place to take a deep breath, and in winter, the scene transforms into a sparkling ice world.
Walk through the Solar System
Above Offenhausen awaits the Sternberg. Here you can leisurely walk along the Planet Trail from the Sun to Pluto – at a scale of 1:1 billion. It feels a bit like outer space, but with a view of the Swabian Jura. And up top, there’s a fantastic view over the Lauter Valley.
